As promised, this is the Dell 42U Rack... Very stylish. So now it will handle our DC, Exchange (front-end and back-end), ISA, Oracle, Altris & IIS. A UPS for all these servers...

Just an update

I updated the look of my Blog and I fixed the problem i had with my ShoutBox. You can now 'Shout Away' hehe...

I also want to mention that I changed majors again. Now I am back to Computer Science. The good news is that I only need 6 more courses to graduate. Therefore, I am taking two this semester and I will be left with four. Which I could take in two semesters.

We also started work on our Independent IT Infrastructure Project officially yesterday. We had a kickoff meeting with the service provider and installed a new 42U Rack Cabinet. We also purchased 2 new Dell PowerEdge 2850 2U servers. They would be for the back-end Exchange and the front-end Exchange servers. We will also be configuring an ISA server as well as Cisco PIX firewall and which would double as a remote access and VPN connectors.

The cabinet comes with a 15" LCD screen, keyboard and track ball. It's all Dell and it's all beautiful. We also purchased a 6000w UPS that weights a ton. That will be supplying uninterrupted power to all the servers, screen and switches.

In case you did not know me...

Here is a quick recap of my past 10 years...

Once I graduated from high school, I joined my uncles company in the computer department. I would assemble computers, install software, sell products for a couple of months, and then I joined the college as an Associate Degree for Computer Science student.

I was not getting paid anything, but didn't mind it, I learnt a lot during that time. Thanks to those days, I could assemble a computer with no problem.

Then I got a job at a multimedia company, which deals mostly with Lotus. Later on it merged in with a website designer company. It grew very fast. I worked there full time and part time, I would also be enrolled at MCBS at the same time. I would spend my day in the office and at work. I usually take leave during my exams.

I worked at that company for about 2 years, during that time I went to America for a month, we went to Disney World, Florida then went to St. Louis, Missouri to drop my sister off to college. MCBS was affiliated to University of Missouri St. Louis.

after that and until now I am working full time in an Oil company and studying part time in MCBS, I have two associate degrees one in computer science and one in IT, and I am conting my studies in computer science. I will graduate by the end of 2005 early 2006. I might go for a miner in IT.

I have been working for 3 years now, which I spent 9 months in Australia. Australia is a different story that would be my next post on this blog.
