Digital Alarm Clocks - Which is the best?

Thought of sharing this with you...

I guess anyone in my place would go through this at least once in their life time, if it wasn’t for couple of days like this guy http://www.slate.com/id/2137624/?nav=tap3 then at least a few minutes… Lets face it, how would you like to be woken up in the morning for work, school, trip (hmmm, i wouldn’t mind waking up for a camping trip!) or what ever it may be that you wake up… i for one have a hard time, i snooze too much… and i like doing it… the best time for me to sleep is when i am woken up…

So i thought of doing a little r&d over the internet… and it seems that someone has done the work for me.. http://www.slate.com/id/2137624/?nav=tap3

I also came across a few other models like this one http://www.clocky.net/ who would want something like that running around their room bumping into objects every morning??? I wouldn’t find it amusing; I would find it worrying… what if it went straight into an electric socket? Or dropped a glass of water off the bed side table???

For the iPod fans you might like this alarm clock http://www.brookstone.com/shop/product.asp?product_code=530758&search_type=search&search_words=ihome%20clock%20radio&prodtemp=t2&cm_re=Result*R1C2*T

Out of this lot, i pick this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6316202&type=product&id=1077626315903

Home Town - Jabal Akhdar

On Wed 18th of Jan we went to Jabal Akhdar for the night, it kindda reminded me of My last Trip to Jabal Shams... but the drive to the top of Jabal Akhdar is harder but fun...

Please stand by for pics, for now please check Mindazis Flickr for a glimce... http://www.flickr.com/photos/omar33m/sets/1361337/ I must say, they are nice pics... RIALLLL...

Story later...

End of a Chapter

Al7amdulilah, after 7 years, my journey has ended... I never thought that it would take me this long, but some people are just destined to it...

Since '98 when I first walked into college, I was happy that I have finished with school and thought that college would be fun, well, I was right, college was bags of fun, meeting friends, hanging around after college, playing table tennis (I should get credit for table tennis), but its meeting people that I really enjoyed...

I just finished my last exam on the 8th of Jan 2006, got my results and passed, Al7amdulilah...

Now that that's all behind me, I'm looking forward with more studies... I feel my life is empty without going to class, or working on some assignment, expect something crazy...

Free time, Kamakazy is coming with a bang...

Unpacking...

I went I conquered & I came back to write this blog post… Part 2

Fri, 2 Dec: I don’t think that any of us got any sleep at night; we were attacked by donkeys at about 2AM. It was scary listening to them walk up to us. Since our tent was pitched on a little patch of small rocks, the foot steps could be heard clearly. Except that it was coming from three donkeys, which confused me in the beginning to how many were out there. Tariq, Vishka and Terry went out to investigate; I was too cold to loose all the heat that I have saved in my sleeping bag. Plus, if we were being attacked, I just felt too cold to fight back. This was the lowest temperature recorded on the trip, 4 degrees. After the guys came back into the tent, Terry had a hard time sleeping. For some reason he kept on punching the side of the tent really hard. I thought he was hunting for mosquitoes. Turns out that he wanted to push back the side of the tent because he thought that the donkeys were back again, leaning on the side of the tent. After a few punches Tariq managed to convince him that it’s the wind.

In the morning, the goats came to visit us again. Looking for anything there is to eat. They loved Pofak. Tariq was able to catch one and we took pictures with it. After that Tariq just got wild with a Nishati and chopped firewood from dry branches, good effort there chap. After that we packed up and headed to Sharqiyah.

On the way, I saw a short cut to get to Sharqiyah, by avoiding the high way and taking an inside road from Izki we went all the way to Ibra. I don’t think we saved much time, but at least we avoided the twisted roads of Wadi Ouq. We got to Tiwi and started pitching up the tent on White Beach, we lost sunlight by this time, and we just managed to squeeze ourselves in-between two already occupied camp sites. Once the tent was up and fire on (we didn’t really need the fire), food preparation started. While that was being handled by Chef Vishka and Terry, Tariq and I went off to Sur to get Najashi… We had a good time on the beach, the weather was amazing, at that moment, I didn’t want to go back to Muscat the next day, I wanted to continue to drive around Oman camping in different places, watching the stars, sleeping out… but then, I really longed for a good shower.

Sat, 3 Dec: We got up, I was all energized to go to Wadi Shab, problem was, no one except Terry was willing to join me, I didn’t want to split from the group. After we packed up we bumped into the college group, they seemed to have had a good time in Sur, all full of energy. Then we headed back to Sur to drop off Najashi, who refused to let us leave without having lunch at his place. (Note: this is also where some made release). To tell you the truth Najashi, that invitation was a life saver. Thanks for lunch and thanks for joining us in Tiwi. After that we headed back to Muscat, I slept most of the way…

Vishka getting ready for the night

I went I conquered & I came back to write this blog post…

First of all, I would like to thank Vishka for all that he provided for the trip. Thanks to you we had a roof over our heads and a place to sit comfortably, not to mention warm food, those were delicious, a cool box that stayed cool all the way throughout the trip. A water kettle, that took time to get warm in Jabal Shams. Fire wood, that Terry and I had a good time setting alight, we made fire fairly easy. Also another big thank you to Tariq for sorting out the wheels for the trip (a 5.3L guzzling Yukon!), it drove easily constantly during the trip. I think your GMC has been through think and thin in all of Omans' unforgiving terrains. I vouch that the Yukon is King of Luxury, Comfort and space of all 4WD that I have drove. Not to forget Terry, who was the first victim of the thorn tree up in Jabal Shams, did you manage to get it out in the end? No more cheating in the "Touch Wood" game. He is also the first person I meet who managed to win more than once in that card game Uno! Good on you Teary O'Leary J. Last but not least, Najashi who joined us the last leg of the trip in Tiwi, thanks for an interesting conducting of the Uno game. You must teach me that someday.

So as you can tell, somehow the plan changed one day before the trip. Jabal Shams somehow came into the picture again, and I was not thrilled to go there at all, especially at this time. It is freezing there. I saw the weather report for the last week of November and it said: MAX 9 MIN 2… that is enough to put the shivers in me. But I was glad that Tiwi was still in, so that made me pack my bag, ready to go.

Wed, 30 Nov: Right after I finished worked at 5PM, I got information that the bastard Feras Esam Asqul, went on another trip with his friend the same morning, he just ditched us and left. He only informed Tariq about this while he was on his way on a 6 hour drive to the south of Oman… The fool… I am glad that he missed out on a fabulous trip, and cut his foot during his trip, serves him right.

Vishka, Tariq and I arranged to go shopping for the trip to buy the essentials, like food items, coal, fire starter, etc. we picked Lulus for that.

Thu, 1 Dec: We all met at Vishkas place including Terry, (in some way, he took Feras's place, it was nice of you to join us Terry, we got to do this more often) packed up the GMC to the fullest, and off we went to Jabal Shams. The weather was nice and the temperature was nice too, about 14-17 degrees when we first got there. We set up camp in a prime location, had dinner then slept. At night the temperature went down to 4 degrees. It was freezing, I had 2 vests, 3 t-shirts, 3/4 sleeve, 2 boxers, tights, shorts, jeans, 2 socks, a beanie and 2 musars. I looked like a bear. HAHA. When we went to sleep, I snuggled into my sleeping bag and to top it off put a blanket over me… the only part of my body that was exposed was my nose, coz I put the beanie over my eyes. I will post pics of how I looked like at night. I looked funny.

End of Part 1, come again to read what happened in Tiwi...
