With the national day holidays just around the corner, we will be getting Sat and Sun off... Which means an extended weekend... (Thursday to Sunday) Wooo Hooo...
Originally 3 groups of friends and cousins were planning to go for a camping trip this Thursday... there is: Plan 'A' - Friends + Cousins Group, Plan 'B' - Work Group and Plan 'C' College Group... Plan 'A' is destined to go to Sifa, Plan 'B' to Tiwi and Plan 'C' to Ras il-Jinz. Since I have been through trips that have never have never seen the road, I am clinging to all three.
Let me go back in time to the last trip that was meant to happen. One day a friend of mine just came up with the idea to go for a trip, just a one day trip anyway as long as all the friends are involved. One person from the guys was picked and supposed to gather up the guys and get them organize, one person from the gals was also picked and supposed to gather up the gals and get them organized. All that I did was set a reminder on my phone on the date of the trip. The organizers agreed to have the trip in a months time, since they said "no one will say, short notice, or come up with an excuse, the date is one month from now and everyone should free up their schedule by then". Sweet.
As usual I was getting excited about the trip, when I saw one of the organizers I would ask them what they came up with, the guy would say "we already know who is coming from the guys" the gal would say something similar, I did not ask them again, I felt like it will be a flop. A month later while I was in college, I remember this day, it was a Wednesday and all that appeared on my phone screen was a reminder stating: "Trip on Thursday" I was confused… coz I started to get excited again (notice how easily I get excited) and in the same time, I had no idea what this trip was about. I totally forgot about the idea that sprung up a month ago. I was standing right by my car about to open the door staring at my phone with a confused look in my face. I do not usually forget trips I tried really hard to recall which trip this was but I just could not. It took me about 4 hours to recall which trip it was, once I did I called the organizers and as expected, it was abolished.
Anyway, back to this Thursday, the first trip that was planned was with the same group as mentioned above, this time I call the organizers (they were the same) the plan was for an over night stay at Sifa. A couple of the gals were up for it, but one was not ready to rough it. Then another gal backed out and it was all down hill from there. YOU KNOW YOURSELVES; IF YOU ARE READING THIS I AM NEVER PLANNING ANY CAMPTING TRIP WITH YOU AGAIN. EVER! So I agree with the guy that I will join either the work group or the college group and they can tag along wherever I am. (its so simple to arrange trips with these people) Anyway, the trip must go on, so its plan 'B' which in this case is either with the work group. I met up with the work group organizer on Saturday the 26th we sat and chatted about the trip, schedule, destination, attendance, transportation, participating fees, etc. everything seems to be in order. Come Sunday, I miss work because of a terrible cold (which I still suffer by the way, sniff sniff, hope I get well before the trip, amen) I call up one of the guys from work and he says "The trip is canceled!!!"
Oh well, there is always plan 'C' which is the college group. THE TRIP MUST GO ON. I just hope that it actually happens and nothing goes wrong with it. Otherwise, why depend on them? Why not organize my own trip? Yeah, I might as well do that. The guys from Plan 'A' are willing to go. I am just going to arrange my trip with them. If it actually happens I will having a warm feeling inside me… my struggle to go for a trip will end…
Here is the formula for arranging a successful trip:
If probability distribution of a successful trip is based upon:
A = ½ (guys agree, gals refuse)
B = { } (empty set)
C = x (where x is unknown)
Where
A ≤ B ≤ C (in number of participants) and
X = Sifa
Y = Wadi Shaab
Z = Ras il-Jinz
A Successful Trip ≈
∑(A + B ± C) × ∫ f(x) dx ∩ √Y – (X + Z)
Somehow, it actually does make sense to me… ;-)
